5/08/09 - Synopsis/Characters/etc

Fri May 8, 2009, 6:09 PM
SYNOPSIS

Your OC has found him/herself on an island floating high above the ground. This place is called Anirune. It is a fantasy setting. I might do a futuristic/nowadays one too because it seems fun but this one is just final fantasyish for now. The characters are searching for a way back (or to avoid going back) to their regular lives and get off of this island.

CHARACTERS

Characters can be anything from humans to creatures but within reasonable boundaries. So please no 50 foot dragons or anything like that. Any hair color, skin color, appendages etc are allowed, as long as it doesn't transcend the setting.

MAGIC/MYSTICISM

Magic and everything is allowed but no rediculous spells. No supernovas, no final flashes no big super duper kill the planet attacks. PLEASE none of those. Energy being released in any tangible form or manipulation of the world around a character is fine to a certain degree. Come to me if you want to ask if the power is alright.

WEAPONS

Any kind of weapon is ok as long as it is not a buster rifle, giant mech or otherwise overpowered object. The best way to describe the weapon range is similar to FF12. They had swords and all that but had rifles and such fitting to a certain time period. If you have any questions ask me.

SOCIETY

On the island there's one central village (map coming soon). at various points on the island are the different ecosystems. Volcanoes, Snowy mountain peaks, desert, everything is located at least in some amount on this island in the sky. The people are not unaccustomed to seeing mystical events or powers, but they themselves possess very little or none at all save a few. Any kind of interaction with the society is ok.

HOW AN OCT WORKS

After the initial entry is made, the characters are allowed to duel (or just talk if you really wanna). What this is means is two or more people decide to fight. They will then take the following steps.

1. Set a deadline.
2. Choose a medium you're both going to draw/write/animate in.
3. You each do a version of the fight. What this means is you take the other persons character and depict them in your fight. This lets people expand a bit and draw other people's characters and work in new venues we may not do on our own.
4. The entries are sent in to me.
5. They are judged by people who didn't participate in the duel. They're not based off of art alone, they're based on flow, storytelling, and basically just capturing the fight in a "cool" "dramatic" or interesting way.
6. The winner is determined as the way the fight actually went.

So basically you're both competing to determine how the fight goes on. No mortalities please unless the opponent allows it. No deaths otherwise. You can continue to develop your character through more fights or more scenes however you want to. I'll be posting more about setting and such as the week goes on. Any other questions ask me.

FIRST ASSIGNMENTS

The first assignment to get everyone started is make an entry into the world. This can be a comic, animation, story, etc explaining your characters arrival (or being shoved onto) the island. This helps us grasp a little bit of your character. So if possible make a character sheet (I'll make a template for you to drop it into) and a little bio of the character. Likes, dislikes, power, etc. are necessary for a full character bio.

So who wants to join in?
